The 40th International Ceramics Days in Oldenburg - Meeting Place for Ceramics Lovers and Artists

This year’s International Ceramics Fair in Oldenburg on August 5th and 6th, 2023, again attracted numerous visitors to the market stalls. The atmosphere was fantastic, but we felt the absence of our late long-time specialist trade partner Mr Uciechowski.

A great innovation was the cooperation there with Keramik-Kraft, who accompanied us for the first time. Our visitors were particularly interested in the “Ecotop” toploader series and the ROHDE myKiln app—a “digital firing log” that is intuitive and easy to use.

The press ceremony for the ceramics prizes took place in Oldenburg Castle. In the best-of exhibition, “brandneu – brandnew”, a jury of experts awarded the “Detlef Schmidt-Wilkens Prize for Ceramics” in the function, figurine, object and innovation categories.

The “NEW CERAMICS Prize”, dedicated to outstanding achievements in ceramic vessels, sculpture and painting, was awarded for the 14th time. This prize, donated by the European ceramics magazine “NEUE KERAMIK” publisher, went to Margot Thyssen, Nausika Raes, Youkyung Sin and the ceramic artist duo Hyojung Yun and Jinhwi Lee.

A welcome side effect: All award winners use ROHDE kilns for their works of art. Sincere thanks go to the organisation, and anticipation for next year is already building.
