We were at the market on Friday morning as many expectant ceramics enthusiasts bustled about. The predicted thunderstorm did not materialise that day. Gmunden presented its sunniest side and let the varied market wares shine in all colours.
We spotted familiar and new things and were consistently amazed by the great selection of ceramics and porcelain. And so did the visitors - numerous objects, pieces of crockery and sculptures found homes.
The exhibition in the esplanade garden had the theme “The Seat” and invited visitors to view a wide variety of selected objects. The potters chose their favourite pieces from this selection, and the three prizes were awarded in private by the mayor of Gmunden. The fourth prize was chosen in a ballot of the market visitors.
