A Beautiful Autumn Day at the Pottery Market in Gera

The tranquil market in Gera city centre greeted us with glorious weather. The square is sheltered, so although it was cold, the wind stayed out – the stalls were safe.

A colourful potpourri of pottery works awaited market visitors at around 60 stalls. Everything was set up and decorated very lovingly – as long as the exhibitors had time to finish their displays. Even before the official opening at 10 a.m., numerous ceramics enthusiasts were strolling through the market streets and marvelling at the wares, engaging the potter of their choice in a lively conversation about glazes, how the watertight the cups were and how skin-friendly the jewellery was. Happily, one or two items changed hands and put a smile on the buyer’s face
