Keramisto, ceramics market in Milsbeek (NL), 17th/18th September 2022

The exhibition grounds are idyllically situated on a spacious meadow by the lake, and the car park is in a small forest; a visit to the market could not begin more romantically.

When I arrived in the morning, a few people were already waiting at the ticket office to be let in. The meadow has plenty of space, and many of the stands were very large and showed a diverse selection of ceramists. I also met the British animal sculptor Simon Griffiths, who, despite extensive customs red tape and increased costs, had made the journey across the English Channel to present his impressive animal figures. Three specialist ceramic dealers were also on-site, as were Ine and Ed Knops, who held Raku demonstrations, and a stand where a 3D printer was running.
