Euregio Ceramics Market, Raeren (BE), September 10th/11th, 2022

The beginning of September also marked a change in the weather, as the sunshine gave way to the long-awaited rain. However, the exhibitors on the grounds of Raeren Castle took it in their stride. The paths were well paved, and the stalls were covered, making an extended stroll through the market possible despite the occasional rain. I sensed a relaxed atmosphere at the market, and it was easy to have a conversation or two about the ceramics that caught my eye.

The Euregio Ceramics Prize was awarded on Sunday, and at the same time, an era came to an end. After 27 successful years, market organizer Mr Mennicken is handing his post over to a successor. His colleagues and the potters honoured his many years of commitment with a personal gift. Mr Mennicken’s emotion was clearly noticeable in his acceptance speech.
