Open Pottery Day

For us, the 2022 travel season begins with the Germany-wide Open Pottery Day. This time we decided to visit two established potteries.

The Schacht Pottery was founded in 1985 and is located in idyllic Franconian Switzerland near Pottenstein. The charming farmhouse is arranged as an exhibition and invites you to linger in its cosy spaces. Colourful crockery alternates with selected individual pieces and captivates you with a variety of surface designs using different firing techniques.

Our second visit took us to Gabi Weber's pottery workshop in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. Gabi turns and sculpts everything that she and her customers can think of, from perfectly shaped crockery to the smallest nativity figures. Here, too, the house and garden have been turned into an exhibition, and visitors are greeted by a wealth of colours and shapes. The happiness in the figures and tableware designs is contagious.

Both visits were a lot of fun for us and we thank you for the good conversations and the permission to take pictures.
