Iznang Pottery Market with Young talents Ceramics prize

The latest Iznang Pottery Market on Lake Constance started on the weekend of July 16th and 17th, 2022, on the grounds of the sports facilities in Mooswald.

Workshops from 9 European countries were represented and presented a great variety of ceramic handicrafts of the highest quality to the visitors.

As usual, the Iznanger Ceramics Prize and exhibition took place next to the market. Three prizes with a total value of €1,500 were awarded.

1st prize Atsushi Kitahara, Halle (Saale), 2nd prize Angelika and Gerd Panthen, Belgium, 3rd prize Wolfram von Stengel, Freiamt.

For the first time, an international young talent award for ceramic YOUNG TALENTS was offered, which is intended to promote young ceramists. The unique pieces submitted on the subject of “precious blue were shown in an exhibition. The highly endowed young talent prize is unique in Germany and Europe and is supported by Helmut Rohde GmbH to the tune of €3,000. An expert jury consisting of Dr Arthur Mehlstäubler, M.A., Katja Plankenhorn M.A., Klaus Gutowski, Head of Majolika, and Beate Bentele, publisher of the magazine brandheiss, decided that the free, artistic work of the young Chinese Song Zhifeng from Halle (Saale) as the first young talent prize. In addition to the prize money, the award-winning piece was purchased by Rohde for its in-house collection.

The organisers, Sabina Hunger and Felix Sommer, hope that the young talents award will make the Iznang Pottery Market a forum for young ceramists and ceramic artists and that in the future, the multifaceted, young and contemporary ceramic items can be admired on the market and in the exhibitions.
