Heilbronn Pottery Market

We are so pleased that the pottery market in Heilbronn, one of the few ceramic markets this year, was able to take place last week, despite the current difficult situation.

We sampled the delights of the market which is steeped in tradition at Platz am Bollwerkturm rather than the usual city centre location along Sülmerstraße. This is the first time since 1487 that the market has taken place in a different location. To meet the currently required hygiene and social distancing provisions, the market organiser, Alexander Ghassemi, changed the location to be able to hold the market at all. The permanent wearing of a face covering was compulsory for everyone and the number of visitors was constantly checked so the maximum permitted number was not exceeded.

Despite these restrictions, the potters were grateful for this opportunity and lovingly set up their market stalls with the usual variety and the necessary confidence. Around 40 ceramists offered all sorts of treasures made of clay in the form of household goods, jewellery, decorative and garden items. The fine weather, pleasant atmosphere and the colourful selection of ceramic works made the stroll through the market an entertaining experience.

A special thank you to all the exhibitors who allowed us to photograph them for this item.
