From 9 to 12 May 2024, the big pottery market took place again in Diessen am Ammersee.
More than 160 exhibitors from 14 countries sold a wide and very high-quality range of ceramic works – from jewellery and utility ceramics to vessels and sculptures. The market was very well attended, and I estimate that up to 60,000 visitors from all over the world made their way to the Ammersee this year. https://www.diessener-toepfermarkt.de/
This year, we moved to a new stand location and became even more central to the market. The new location on the railway underpass and the information stand on the bridge proved to be very popular during the event.
As well as many interested visitors to the market, we met several exhibitors at our stand over the four days and had many interesting discussions. In addition to the kilns and the pottery wheel, the app and its features were a recurring topic of conversation. The new and important topic of “SolarReady” was also discussed with interest. This important feature of our controllers was the subject of many discussions over the four days and will continue to occupy us in the near future.
Some old acquaintances also found their way to Diessen, including Günther and Nikki Hermanns.
This year, we once again sponsored the Diessen Ceramics Prize. The prize is well established in the European ceramics scene and is endowed with €5,000.
This year’s theme was “Big and Small – Contrast or Harmony”, and over 80 market participants entered pieces. ’The winner of this year’s ceramics prize is Susanne Petzold from Dresden, who entered four of her porcelain pieces.
