International exhibitors, award-winning ceramics, and a very special atmosphere: the 25th Diessen Pottery Market once again delighted exhibitors and visitors alike.
More than 160 international exhibitors presented their high-quality ceramic works at the picturesque lakeside location at Dießen am Ammersee. Whether artistic ceramics, aesthetic porcelain tableware or lovingly designed stoneware: the more than 50,000 visitors got their money's worth during the four days of the market. The variety of colors and shapes was particularly striking at this anniversary edition.
Show throwing and many conversations at the ROHDE market stand
At the large ROHDE stand in the center of the market, we once again presented a selection of our products, including the ELS 200 S chamber kiln, the Ecotop 60, and our banding wheels. On all four market days, we had interesting and enriching conversations with market guests and exhibitors who came to find out about our products or give us feedback. The topics ranged from kiln purchases and the use of the ROHDE myKiln app to firing curves and the replacement of heating elements.
Our special stand was a real highlight, where ceramicist Sabine Rupprecht threw on our HMT 600 pottery wheel several times each day. Rupprecht delighted young and old alike with her throwing skills and answered all questions about throwing on a pottery wheel and clay in a highly informative and expert manner.
Her vases, which we presented in the TE 145 S BH, immediately found many fans. Tobias Görtz, better known as toepfer_tobi, also got involved at our stand, spontaneously modeling a teddy bear on our banding wheel for standing operation and attracting the attention of the audience. The overwhelmingly positive response from market visitors and professionals shows that we hit the mark with this live performance concept.
Diessen Ceramics Award: Elke Sada impresses expert jury
A special highlight this year was once again the presentation of the Diessen Ceramics Award. ROHDE donated the internationally renowned award for the 23rd time.
The theme of the Diessen Ceramics Award, which is endowed with five thousand euros, was “Color Games.” This year's winner is Elke Sada from Leipzig. The native of Franconia impressed the expert jury with her “Spielplatz” (Playground) and prevailed against 65 other entries with her artwork. Sada had already won the Diessen Ceramics Award in 2011.
This year saw the premiere of the “Young Ceramics Award.” The award, donated by ROHDE's specialist retail partner Andrea Wolbring, is aimed at artists under the age of 35. The first winner is Nora Arrieta from Höhr-Grenzhausen. She prevailed against 41 competitors and won with her sculpture “Stille Feuer” (Silent Fires).
