Argillà Ceramics Festival in Faenza, Italy

At last! After a break due to COVID-19, the Argillà International Ceramics Festival took place in Faenza from September 2nd to 4th, 2022. Two hundred and twenty exhibitors from all over Europe came to this city, famous for majolica and faience, and offered their goods for sale in the middle of the beautiful piazza and the many small alleys. The entire ceramic repertoire could be seen and bought. We took part for the third time with Fabio Poli from our Italian specialist trade partner, CIBAS, in Bassano del Grappa. Maria Larsson from Lermakeriet, one of our partners in Sweden, also supported us. Over the course of two days, Maria repeatedly turned on the ROHDE HMT 600 pottery wheel. Many visitors, young and old, came to our stand and marvelled at her craftsmanship.

This year, the Mondial Tornianti Potter’s Wheel competition once again attracted many spectators. A cylinder that was as high as possible, a bowl with the largest possible diameter and a vase that had to be felt blind beforehand were thrown. It was amazing how close some participants came to the original. We sponsored the first prize for one of the two throwing competitions together with CIBAS. The winner and thus the new owner of a ROHDE HMT 600 pottery wheel is Augusto Girolamini from Deruta, Italy. Our retail partner Maria Larsson came third in the competition for height and width.

All in all, it was a beautiful market in an enchanting old Italian city where you could find ceramics on literally every corner. We would like to thank the entire CIBAS team and Maria Larsson for the pleasant support and look forward to 2024, when the Argillà Festival will again take place in Faenza.
